Data Protection
The way in which SPT handles and processes your personal data is regulated by the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act 2018 (“data protection legislation”).
SPT takes the protection of your personal data very seriously and will comply with data protection legislation.

Data protection legislation gives you the right to:
- Be informed about the use of your personal data;
- Request access to your personal data (commonly known as a “subject access request” or a SAR);
- Request rectification of your personal data if the information we have is inaccurate or incomplete;
- Request erasure of your personal data, in some circumstances (also known as “the right to be forgotten”);
- Request the restriction of processing of your personal data, in some circumstances;
- Request that your personal data be provided to you or to another data controller in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, in certain circumstances (known as “Data Portability”);
- Object to the processing of your personal data, in some circumstances; and
- Request not to be subject to automated decision-making.

Once SPT receives your data subject request:
- In most cases, we must provide a copy of the personal data that you are entitled to under the GDPR free of charge.
- However, SPT is entitled under the law to charge a ‘reasonable fee’ when a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive, particularly if it is repetitive. For further information please see SPT’s Charging for Information Policy (see Related Links).
- SPT must deal with your request for personal data and provide you with the information to which you are legally entitled at the latest within one month of receipt.
- However, we will be able to extend the period of compliance by a further two months where requests are complex or numerous. If this is the case, SPT must inform you within one month of the receipt of the request and explain why the extension is necessary.
Please note that we may be unable to provide certain information where the rights of third parties are impacted. If that is the case, we may restrict the data released or redact documents to remove third-party data. We may also be unable to release data if one, or more, of the exemptions in the relevant legislation, applies.
When you are exercising your rights (other than your right to access your own personal data) we would encourage you to use SPT’s Data Subject Rights Form.
